Seminar Precious Metals Technology 2026

On October 28, 2026, the third Precious Metals Technology Seminar will take place at the fem Research Institute in Schwäbisch Gmünd. The event, organized by the fem Research Institute and the Institute of Jewelry Technology at Pforzheim University, is aimed at professionals from the precious metals processing industry and the goldsmithing trade. The focus will be on current trends, technological developments, and innovative applications of precious metals in industry and the luxury goods sector. In addition to technical presentations, the seminar offers numerous opportunities for discussion and networking with industry experts.

On behalf of Umicore, Joachim Grimm will give a presentation on the topic “Electroforming of Precious Metals: Processes, Materials, and Prospects”. Electroforming is one of the most innovative technologies for manufacturing hollow and extremely lightweight metal objects. The process opens up new degrees of freedom in terms of design and weight, which particularly benefits the jewelry industry.
