Review of Optatec 2022 - A trade fair with added value

After a long wait, the time had finally come again after four years; the 15th Optatec international trade fair for optical technologies, components and systems celebrated its re-launch from the 18th to 20st of October, 2022 in Frankfurt am Main. With more than 50 percent of the exhibitors coming from abroad, the internationality was again and as in previous years, very high and is proof of the first-class status of the leading trade fair.

Umicore Thin Film Products was one of the exhibitors from 30 countries who presented a comprehensive picture of the worldwide range of products, detailed and system solutions as well as applications of optotechnology - optical components, optomechanics, optoelectronics, fiber optics, optical waveguides, laser components, digital microscopy as well as processing machines and production systems for the manufacture of optics - to a total of 3,481 visitors from 37 countries on about 4,500 square meters in Hall 8. Topics that are gaining importance not only for Umicore Thin Film Products. Growing quality requirements, increasing automation and digitalization have become indispensable for many areas of life and are thus drivers of optical technologies. In addition, the requirement profiles of end customers are becoming more and more demanding. Therefore, Umicore Thin Film Products creates added value for its business partners through direct cooperation.

The new possibility to contact Umicore directly in addition to the well-known European sales channel and to benefit from technology and material competence independent of plant and application was received with enthusiasm by the visitors. This is an affirmation of the strategy change implemented in January 2022 with a focus on more customer proximity to existing and newly acquired business partners in line with the overarching RISE 2030 strategy.
