Electrolyte additives for producing ultra-bright nickel layers

NiRUNA® 808 S electrolyte additives are used to produce ultra-bright nickel coatings in sulfate and sulfamate electrolytes and are suitable for rack and barrel finishing. On printed circuit boards, bright nickel can be used for deposition as an intermediate layer prior to precious metal deposition, e.g., hard gold.

The additives are characterized by a wide applicable bright current density range, extremely ductile and ultra-bright deposits, and excellent leveling.

Electrolyte characteristics

Metal content

60 - 90 g/l Ni, 10 - 18 g/l chloride, 40 - 55 g/l boric acid

pH value

3.8 - 4.5

Operating temperature

40 - 60 °C

Voltage

Rack: 4 - 8 V, Barrel: 8 - 12 V

Current density range

1 - 5 A/dm²

Plating speed

approx. 0.5 μm/min at 2.5 A/dm²
